Anytime Fitness Sucks. Anytime Fitness is a franchise of 24-hour health and fitness clubs that is headquartered in Woodbury, Minnesota, United States. The company operates over 4,000 franchised locations in 50 countries. The gym facilities are open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. Chuck Runyon, Dave Mortensen, and Jeff Klinger founded Anytime Fitness in 2002. Runyon is the CEO of the company. Anytime Fitness was the fastest growing health club franchise in 2014. In 2015, Entrepreneur Magazine ranked Anytime Fitness first on its global franchise list.

Brought the club back from the brink of closing, made it profitable and then basically told I was replaceable before an upcoming review/salary increase. Owners are openly misleading customers in advertising, create a toxic work space, mismanaging funds and have no desire to live up to their end once you more than prove your value."

"The most traumatizing experience of my entire life! The owner is clueless about how to run a business and admits it. Huge turnover due to one, single psychopathic bully who is basically a nobody and a community misfit. She bullies other instructors at nearby gyms as well due to insecurity and jealousy. The owner does NOTHING about this and DOES NOTHING to retain her good instructors because she is never there. Owner cannot balance a checkbook. Bounced my paycheck. Only concerned about making money, admits it and is in the red because she is not capable of proper communication. Very upsetting and disappointing. So many members as well as instructors and trainers in our community have been harmed. Owner lies to your face and engages in malicious gossip with the psychopath. They gossip about people who work here, have worked here as well as members of the gym in very nasty ways."

"The hours are absolutely ridiculous. They lie to you about your salary and work you like a dog they can sit back and profit off your hard work then tell you that you arent doing enough. They expect you to do marketing, sales, and cleaning while working second shift hours and not getting compensated for how long you work. You WILL be giving up majority of your daily life to make roughly 12-13 an hour after taxes, based on working 45 hours a week minimum. They will have you tell white lies to people about contract lengths and policies. They will force you to create marketing plans and waste pretty much everyone's time while creating sales goals that are absolutely outrageous for the markets you are in."

"The owner/manager is a micromanager. And after he moved away, I hear he is still the same. He now requires meetings via webcam (that he's usually late to) for things that can easily be sent in a quick, organized email. (But he's not organized, so that explains that.) As a long-distance owner/manager, if something breaks/leaks/floods etc., who gets to do the dirty work? The employees, which are not paid enough for that to be justified. There is no manager at the location. He puts on a nice, friendly face for the members, but his true colors are not pretty. He talks himself and his business up, but talks down to/raises his voice at subordinates (even though they are the ones making his business look good). I will not be surprised if this business goes under. He is mediocre (at best) at running a productive business (poor marketing strategies, poor training, not following through on commitments, poor punctuality, etc.) but then blames employees (or other things) for not bringing in enough revenue. He's the type of person who seeks recognition for his past achievements/certifications, but that means nothing if you are a two-faced, self-centered bully. Don't believe me? Any of the current employees in membership sales or personal training would agree with everything I stated. Disclaimer: This is my 100% honest opinion. Per the Consumer Review Fairness Act of 2016, I have the freedom to write a truthful review from my experience, no matter what Non-Disclosure Agreement I may have signed in the past. Attempting to enforce the said agreement upon me is punishable by law."

"Club owner loses professionalism when mad. Screams and cusses out employees. Has no respect for personal time. Will contact you off hours and weekends. Will do favors for you but will always remind you of what was done with the monetary value always attached to it. Talks about own employees negatively to other employees. Runs club more like a dictatorship than leadership. Also micromanages a lot. Tends to forget what you say to them and then questions you about it. This club is individually owned and operated. So you might get lucky with the right ownership. But know that you are joining a cult like environment. Owner will over share about personal life. If this work place had an HR department, lawsuits would of piled up."

"The owner Lonnie and his wife Brenda seem like a nice people at first, but their true nature comes out after you've worked there a few weeks. I've encountered sociopaths before, but Lonnie is by far the worst. He plays mind games with his staff and gas lights them all the time, making them feel worthless, stupid, and wrong. He pretends to be highly empathetic but in reality, he has no remorse or empathy for his actions. He's verbally abusive, dictatorial, and obsessive-compulsive about how you perform your job. Actually, every day he watches you on the cameras from his home and calls you when he sees anything he doesn't like, including taking a bathroom break. There is literally no room to breathe there! Lonnie is notorious for yelling at his employees, even for little things. Ask anyone who's ever worked there and they'll all tell you they are traumatized. In fact, many former members are traumatized too. Lonnie and Brenda have kicked out so many ladies for wearing crop tops or skin-tight clothing. He's even kicked out guys who simply looked "too buff" (probably because it bruises his ego). How they've never been sued yet for sexist discrimination is mind-boggling! During COVID-19, Lonnie and Brenda defied public health orders to shut the gym down and forced their employees to show up to work even though their lives were being put in danger. They are both virus deniers who believe a vegan diet is all that is required to survive COVID-19. It took multiple calls from the community to the by-law officer to finally shut the place down. Finally, if you're a personalNoneAbusive owners"

You are the cleaner, the sales person, gym guide, maid, admin. You literally run the gym for min wage and commission which is hard and not worth it. I was asked to repair things around the gym including the tanning bed like i am at all qualified for that.commission on membership sales - flat, free membershipno breaks, horrible bosses, expected to work 6 days a week, won't give you time off you'll just get fired"

"I joined Anytime Fitness as a self employed Personal Trainer, my start date was delayed. Once I did start, I paid my £250 license fee to get uniform and marketing support, despite numerous requests to the so called "management" this did not happen. I left and asked for my £250 back, they couldn't transfer it to me citing technical reasons. I had to get my bank involved to get these funds back. Complete waste of my time, do not touch this company with a barge pole."

"Some location owners are better than others. Most owners main concern is making the most money since this is a franchise and they have a lot of out of pocket expenses. Office staff are bit appreciated for all that they have to endure. My time was taken advantage of and overtime refused to be compensated accordingly. It was illegal and I had to keep my mouth shut to keep my job. Very crooked owners."

"The owner works 9-5, micro manage’s your backside while stroking his dog like he’s a Bond Villain. He has no clue what he’s doing so expect to do his work too. Customer complaints aren't a problem as the owner will simply cancel their direct debit, block their fob and fall out with them. Easy work. 110%"

"I was harassed, bullied, intimidated, etc-by a male member for over a year, and I reported it to the male owner. The owner claimed that he spoke with the member, and that the member threatened to sue (the owner), and the owner retaliated against me and wanted to move me to another gym-THAT HE DIDN’T EVEN OWN YET. In other words, my make employer was going to do anything to dodge a lawsuit from the male member. Therefore he did not support me, and I had worked diligently for almost 2 years, with no complaints. I alerted corporate (SE Brands) via email-about the situation and they (just like the owner)-did nothing. After months of anguish I emailed the owner about my concerns of his (recent and previous) acts of sexism and retaliation-towards me-and he fired me thereafter. Also, the owner (my employer) also failed to pay me Management compensation during my six month period as manager."

Roof leaked the entire I was employed at the facility. The owners family had no sense of sympathy for employees or members"

"From the first month the place was a nightmare after getting rid of the GM for petty reasons. Since then the place has been 'ran' by unprofessional individuals who did not have adequate experience, who were rude, took personal attacks on people and bullied and gossiped about staff, members and contractors. This was the worst place I've ever worked, I'm surprised the place is still open."

"The worst gym I have ever been a member of, unhygienic, unprofessional and more interested in money than the safety of it's guests.

Prior to the beginning of the first lockdown I contacted the gym to terminate my membership as I had shown symptoms and was self isolating for the rest of the month. I was told this was not possible and to wait a month and was still allowed full access to the club even with that information.

The gym then closed for lockdown and not only was my membership not terminated (I had given written notification 3 weeks prior) but I was sent a bill for £270 for the time the gym wasn't even open.

After numerous failed attempts to contact on the phone I then had to go down in person, even though I still had health concerns. I was told to pay for 1 month (£45) and they would cancel the rest. I waited for a bill which never came and now 3 months later I am told I am in £270 arrears in late fees from a £45 bill and that it has been passed to a credit agency and not to contact the club.

When everyone is struggling financially and some even with their health, Anytime Fitness Chelsea has shown its true colours which are seeking profit over the wellbeing, professionalism and safety of its guests.

If this Company is still operating in the coming months I would recommend avoiding at all costs as you can only survive so long on offering a sub standard product and actively ripping off your customers."

IT IS COMMEN FKN SENSE THAT IF YOU ARE GOING THROUGH FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES AND IS CALLING UP FOR A REFUND THEN YOU SHOULD HOLD FURTHER PAYMENTS UNTIL ITS FKN SOLVED! I MENTIONED I DID NOT WANT ANY FURTHER PAYMENTS MADE AND THAT IF SHE CANT HELP THEN I WILL CANCEL. NO ONE CALLED ME BACK, NO EMAIL, NO REFUND UNTIL I HAD TO SEND MY HUSBAND IN THATS WHEN YOU DECIDE TO FKN REPLY NOT EVEN VIA CALL BUT VIA EMAIL. IS YOUR CUSTOMERS SERVICE A JOKE, DO YOU EVEN WORK? WHY DIDNT ANYONE GET BACK TO ME INSTEAD I HAD ANOTHER $67 DEDUCTED BESIDES THE $44. I HAVE PROOF OF EVERYTHING I SENT A FNK EMAIL AT 11:40AM TO HAVE THIS DEALT WITH INSTEAD YOU REPLY AT 8:00 AFTER I SEND MY HUSBAND IN. WHERE THE FK WERE YOU ALL DAY TO HELP BUT YOU WAITED UNTIL ANOTHER DEDUCTION WAS MADE! DO YOU THINK OUR MENTAL WELL-BEING IS A JOKE TO YOU. "Staff at Anytime Fitness Armadale in Victoria are rude, inconsiderate and unprofessional.

I was charged over $150 in the span of a week after I complained and left a negative review. I have been asking to transfer away from Anytime Fitness Armadale since August 7 (in wiritng and over the phone), and it is now December and still have not been transferred. Instead, I have been charged at the highest price by Armadale and not the other Anytime Fitness I have been attending. I've been charged DOUBLE plus FEES, during the Christmas period no less."
